To support the creation, verification, and investigation of network intrusion detection capabilities, you will work in tandem with the security engineering and threat intelligence teams. The advancement of internal threat intelligence procedures, research into new threats, and the development of threat detection signatures will all be directly impacted by your efforts.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work together with security engineers and threat researchers to create detection logic and assess network-based assaults.
- Utilize tools like Wireshark or Zeek and PCAPs to conduct packet-level analysis.
- Need assistance in developing and testing detection signatures for an IPS/NIDS system
- Take part in the creation of internal tools to enhance Python automation and research operations.
- Conduct open-source intelligence gathering, emerging threats, indicators of compromise, and TTPs.
- support in the creation of technical documentation, such as reports and playbooks,
- engage in technical discussion during all phases of the threat research and signature development cycle.
- assist in building simulated attack scenarios to validate detection capabilities
Educational Qualification
- Graduate or a student in the final year of a master’s or bachelor’s degree in 2024 or 2025 in information technology, computer science, networking, and cybersecurity
- strong understanding of computer networking, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), the OSI Model, and the TCP/IP Protocol Stack.
- familiarity with cyber threat intelligence, MITRE ATT&CK, and common malware delivery methods.
- good programming language skills, preferably in Python; ability to automate analysis or write smart utilities
- comfortable working with both Linux and Windows operating systems
- familiar with tools such as Wireshark, Suricata, Snort, tcpdump, etc., is a plus
- Experience in network security, packet analysis, or cybersecurity is desirable
- strong communication skills, keen attention to detail, and good research skills
